The 7th humanitarian golf tournament "Swing For Life" held at the Thu Duc golf-course in HCM City on September 2, has raised almost US$68,000 for the city's Association in Support of Poor Patients.
The sum will be spent on the upgrading of facilities at the medical station of one of the poorest wards in the city, the Long Truong Ward in District 9.
The tournament was jointly held by the HCM City Golf Association, the Thu Duc Golf Club and the city's Association in Support of Poor Patients with sponsorship from Aquafina (Pepsi Viet Nam). It drew 170 golf players, including 45 foreigners.
Following seven consecutive annual tournaments from 2000, a total over US$410,000 has now been raised to support the Viet Nam Red Cross and the city's Association in Support of Poor Patients.
The funding has helped to buy facilities in service of blood donation, conduct cataract surgery for 2,500 poor children, and upgrade a medical station.
